A 1/5 scale resin statue. Inspired by the classic story 20,000 leagues under the sea written by Jules Verne. My introduction to this terrific story was the Disney movie which is still fantastic to watch all these years later, and a mention also to mysterious island that sees the return of captain Nemo and the nautilus for one last adventure. I've been wanting to sculpt something steampunk inspired for awhile now but couldn't find anything as a starting point till recently watching the awesome Disney movie which got me thinking about a perfect setting for some steampunk style sculpting. The first thing I designed was the diving helmet which I wanted to appear practical and ornate at the same time.

From there the diving suit followed that design all the way to her chunky metal high heel boots. Her suit is full of fine ornate details and textures right down to the smallest parts including brass valves and hoses that connect from the air tank to the helmet. The harpoon is based on several similar designs from around the 1800's and is made from stained and varnished wood, rope, metal and resin giving it that extra feel if authenticity to the statue. Her diving helmet features real glass is removable but I feel the figure looks at its best with the helmet on.

For the painting and colour scheme I approached it as a suit that's been through many adventures and battles, showing damage and wear n tear but still functional. The figure is complimented perfectly with a dramatic rocky base featuring a variety of colours blending into each other. Limited to 30 signed and numbered. Each sculpture is cast in the highest grade polyurethane resin. This amazing material reproduces every detail perfectly.
