Large Female Figure,'Nixie' Garden Sculpture by Artstone. The Nixie is inspired by a story by the brothers Grimm. This is a 3/4 life sized sculpture originally made in clay, and now cast as an edition. We found a beautiful 19th Century illustration of the Nixie of the Millpond - a water Nymph/Fairy pushing up out of the water. We decided to use this pose for the sculpture. Later, we discovered that an early saxon name from the lady of the lake in Arthurian legend was Nikon. So, it appears than in ancient history there must be some kind of link to a pre-Christian water Goddess called something like the Nixie or Nikon.

I cast and complete each one myself, and she is cast in bronze resin with a verdigris patina. Hand-cast and completed in our Monmouthshire studios. Dimensions: 76cm x 50cm x 50cm.
